This site is a major expansion of the earlier "The Basic Turkshead" to examine the structure and design of some of the many braided cylindrical knots. This will be done from my perspective as a long time leather braider.
If you have been visiting this site you may notice that I have moved beyond the original premise of simple knots and presented some rather esoteric material. If you have any topic that troubles you please send any questions or suggestions to email stwood@taylortel.net>
There is a neat tool at The Grid Maker by Tim and John Allwine. It is the ultimate design tool and an excellent tutorial for a turkshead. Try it and then visit the KHWW site for a tutorial on it's use and some examples of knots in the forum topic dedicated to it.
The topic "Code counting" in the Interweave thread can serve as a method of increasing or decreasing the number of bights in a spefic weave pattern of a given number of parts without new run lists by just putting a new foundation knot on a pinned mandrel
